THRUST 2 – Microstructured and multi-functional optical fibres

Development of optical fibres with accurately controlled values of non-linearity and dispersion. Until recently the fabrication of MOFs was only mastered for silica glass but there is now a strong interest for developing such waveguides using mid-IR glasses such as chalcogenides, germanates and tellurites.*

Development of multicore silica fibre and of Er3+-doped fibres

Development of a new type of optical fibre including multiple cores with a much higher level of space efficiency. Targeted application : ultra-dense optical interconnects. Collaboration with COPL colleague Sophie Larochelle.
